Annual Meeting

INTER-PROVINCIAL SOFTBALL LEAGUE ANNUAL MEETING

A general meeting was held on July 19th, 2007 at 9:00 P.M. in Bathurst, at Branch 18 with Chairman Jean Rosetti presiding, Jimmy Chiasson Co-Chairman for this year only.

Phillipsburg Masters, Seniors
Dartmouth Masters
Kensington Seniors (late)

Item 1:

Tournament field marshall Dan Pitre presented a contingency plan in the event of rain. Games would be shortened to 5 complete innings with up to 7 fields available, if needed.

Jimmy Chiasson reported that this year’s opening ceremonies would see many of the veterans from Branch 18 in attendance and encouraged all teams to be well represented.

Item 2:

Motion made by Dennis King (Dartmouth) that all games revert to a 10 run rule after 5 completed innings, with the +- capped at 10 runs. In the event of a 3-way tie at the completion of the round robin, the following tie-breaking formula would be used:

1. Best record in head-to-head play.
2. Best +-.
3. Lowest ratio – runs scored against/innings played.
4. Coin Toss

Motion adopted – Unanimous.

Item 3:

Dennis King (Dartmouth) indicated, that as the 2008 Tournament host, Dartmouth is facing financial challenges, first and foremost the high cost of field rentals. With no
possibility of concessions from Halifax Regional Municipality forthcoming, Dartmouth requested the following be considered:

1) the Tournament entry fee be raised from $100 to $200 per team
2) souvenir hats and t-shirts be made available on a pre-order basis

Motion by Phillipsburg, seconded by Bathurst, that the Tournament entry fee be raised to $200 for a period of 5 years, to be revisited in 2012 – all other event financial matters to be at the discretion of the hosting Branch.

Motion adopted – Unanimous

Item 4:

Jean Rosetti requested nominations for the vacant position of League Secretary. It was moved and seconded that Dennis King (Dartmouth) be accepted as the new Secretary.

Motion adopted – Unanimous

Item 5:

Motion by Bathurst, seconded by Kensington, that the Dudley 177S be adopted as the Tournament’s official ball.

Motion denied 3-2 – against (Cowansville, Dartmouth, Phillipsburg), for (Bathurst, Kensington)

Motion by Phillipsburg, seconded by Cowansville, that the Worth 144 40 core be adopted as the Tournament’s official ball.
Voting ended in a tie, Tournament Chairman Jean Rosetti voted in favor.

Item 6:

Motion by Kensington, seconded by Dartmouth, that only CSA approved bats may be used in the Tournament, bats to be verified and stamped by the home plate umpire prior to the start of each game.

Motion adopted – Unanimous

With no further business to be discussed, Jean Rosetti proposed that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Kensington. All in favour.
